Gold Coast and Sydney

Internet has been sparse for many days so this posting is a bit out dated but is needed none the less.

We left Brisbane to head to Gold Coast/Surfers Paradise, I was pleasantly surprised by both Surfers Paradise and a beach we visited in Sydney. Both beaches were extremely clean and I thought very non-commercialized, yes Surfers Paradise has its tourist area but it only encompasses a few blocks and hardly much faces the beach itself. The same was in Sydney, what was suppose to be "the" beach was amazing to look at and hardly much in terms of shops whether it be for food or trinkets, it was great!

One of the evenings in Surfers Paradise finished with a trip to the glow worms that is worth a share. Rather than take a tour we decided to self drive, inputted the destination into the gps and away we went, or so it would seem. The GPS took us up some very steep hills (17%) down a very narrow road that would not be able to turn around on, to find ourselves in the wrong part of the National Park in pitch black about 10pm at night. We happenedto come across a car also stopped in the park information area whom had also made the same mistake, together we confirmed the correct route on the information board and discussed our 30+ min mistake. Some how you feel less like a fool when someone else also makes the same mistake. It was intermittently raining out monsoon style, it was very heavy and being 10pm it was dark, so slow and steady was the pace while Danielle slept.

When we finally made it to the correct place indeed all my encouraging words to Danielle came true, it wasn't a dark park with no one around and us stumbling through, tour buses were parked and people were plenty. So we got to see the little glow worms in all their glory without rain and went back on our marry way. I did mention it was intermittently monsoon out right, Mark/Jen don't share with poor Emma how many frogs were sacrificed during this drive, they were all over the road, at least 10 made a splat I figure.

Sydney was great, we enjoyed very much the Sydney harbour bridge climb. The tour of the opera house was also fascinating, we were able to see a few ballerina's practising during the tour. We did alot of walking around, had to visit the LuLu store in Sydney, imaging paying even more for LuLu stuff, well ozzies do! Had my Kangaroo steak in Sydney, although I picked the wrong night and place to have a Kangaroo plan in my mind, this place had an amazing rib offering, they were very large bones and full of flavour, atleast Danielle shared with me and the Kangaroo was delicious.

After Sydney we head south towards Great Ocean Road!
