Great White Sharks - Amazing

So we have survived and had an amazing, spectacular, awesome and very fun great white shark adventure. The day started at 5:45am as we boarded the Calypso Star with about 25 other passengers.

We headed out for a 2 hour boat ride to Neptune Island, the place where cage diving was created by Rodney Fox way back when.

Immediately within 20 minutes of stopping and anchoring had the first great white visiting the boat, through out the day about 6-8 different great white visited us, with up to 3 at a given moment. Some where small, one was huge aka 'big momma'. We were in a surface cage, just with about 1-2 feet of water above our heads and each group got about 45 minutes if not an hour inside the cage watching the sharks.

Eager me was first in the cage in the second group meaning I scored a corner spot. Through out the cage time they would chum the water and lure the sharks in closer and closer. Rubbing the cage on many passes, no bites/attacks on the cage unfortunately. One did pass between me and the boat on my corner making quite the commotion.

All in it was a amazing experience to see those cold eyes starring you down, knowing you would easily be chopped in half should you happen on that fellow in open water.

We had great weather for the trip as well, a bit rough on the ride out but not overly so and weather cleared up and afforded me a bit of a sun burn when I was not watching the sun had come out while I was snapping pictures as fast as I could.

This is probably the last posting I will do as the remaining of the trip is all Melbourne and then home, so I'll leave those stories to share when I return.

One thing I've been meaning to share on is Aussie law snippets, I found it interesting that Australia as create something called a average speed camera. A photo is taken at place A and then taken further down the road at place B, should your time and thus speed be too fast, you will get a ticket. So no just slowing down for the road side speed camera, you have to be within speed the entire time. Also it is the holiday season so they double the points and fines for speeding to try and ensure a safe holiday season. And in some of the states here there is zero tolerance for speeding, so the limit is the limit, albeit their limits are seemingly a bit higher than ours the default, allot of 110km/hr.
